Hrist's 3D Printed Main Armor

Big updates today!!! Exciting news, at least for me, Hrist's main body armor arrived, and actually fit, better then I expected! *phew* Now if I don't F-up the paint job on this project I'll be quiet happy, not to mention Hrist too ;)

Lots of work to do on this for painting. I'll have my work cut out for me with sanding and stuff.

All the parts that arrived including the flap, not shown in the image below. One of Lidia's painted side pads, and the microphone painted! :) Sadly I realized I really need an airbrush for those obscure colors. doing a hand painted brush job, really ticked me off, putting it in nice terms... >_> I had to put on slightly thicker paint then I wanted to, which washed out some details in the bulb area in order to prevent brush streaks X_X
Bag on the left is all the various pieces that attach to the main armor. Middle bag is a reprint of her upper arm armor that I completely remodeled in pieces rather then a complete unit to make painting less frustrating.

Luckly Lidia was already semi-apart (being cleaned and her new outfit/update being still made) so I was able to use her to quickly test out the size and fitting of the armor.

Thankfully it all seemed to fit just well! :D Lidia was able to sit, and move her legs. All I need to do now is eventually order the hip plates now that it seems to work and I'll be ready for the sewing part, or I might just start on the sewing part soon anyway >_> hmm... :S

New Sword Blade Work

Whole load of parts arrived the other day, 15 pieces in all. I've got quiet a lot to do. Hopefully by the end of the week the last of the parts for the moment... will arrive.
I started with the new blade. I'll have to do a side by side comparison once it's finished. Right now in just the prime stage, it's a lot better quality then the old one I made over a year ago. Hrist should be happy :)

A lot of the parts I ordered, or in fact all of them are just the white flexible. I didn't do polished, (usually takes an extra week) I might have to suck down the extra wait though vs the sanding. So far it's going well, just needs patience. Lots of waiting between prime coats and sanding...

A few parts waiting final paint coat.

Updates

Lots of stuff going on here. Put in an order for some new parts. Also received Hrist's new blade, which is already looking way better then my attempt over a year ago. I also redesigned her upper armor a bit in pieces, should make painting a lot easier I'm hoping. Those should be arriving with the other ordered stuff. Desk is so messy at the moment I have no room to really take photos X_X I should have photos of the new stuff when it arrives though, or this new blade gets finished.

Parts Arrival

Lots of parts arrived the other day.

Black parts in the photo above are ABS printed gemstone via MakerBot. Really crude. and was done using the highest res they had on their machine. White is Shapeways printed gemstone and microphone.
ABS Needs some work, and I don't plan to rig up a acetone mist bath for it just yet... for now I plan to most likely stick with Shapeways.

Painting experiments with the failed printed pieces. This gave me a lot of room to experiment with, without fear of fail. I think I've made some really nice progress in smoothing it down a lot with primer and sanding. I did this a little differently this time, and definitely plan to use on the final microphone.

Armor Update

Phew, this weeks been madness. Lots of real work, busy stuff, and trying to find time to craft. Wish I could cut out the first one and do productive stuff rather then other bs. Anyway, before this goes on to a rant rave... :P

Lots of experimenting, I've been working on that new shapeways refining process, seems to be procuring better results, can't even remember if I've mentioned I was working on that in prior posts. But it's looking very promising.
Also been trying to find time to model, model, model! Hrist's armor's going to be so neat when I get it finished. So excited about this I don't even care how much it might cost to print haha.
Also thinking about re-printing that blade for her sword I made a while back so I can use my new refinishing process on that. and make it a bit more durable.
Loads of work to do still! It may look almost done... but it's not even 50% done yet for pre-print prep work, still need the hip guards too, and those have to be functional so she can sit, and stuff, once I scale out the rest of the armor to proper size, I can develop the necessary working devices for her lower armor as well as clips for the dress support holder thingy's.

Hrist is one step closer to shak'n off her gowns for good! :P

Still waiting on Lidia's new collar gem to arrive from Shapeways, I managed to sew up a workable version of her collar that I deemed 'worthy' only took 8 or 9 attempts >_> got lots of Lidia collars around here though :D
Sheesh I haven't even had the time to take photos of stuff lately X_X Hopefully soon! D:

Lidia Meets Homura

Photo Story of Lidia and Homura is 'finnaly' up and live on Figure.fm! Yup, it sure took a while for the script editing... finding time sucks, but I blame Poofie on this one! :P This photo story is a collaboration between Poofiemus and myself. Looking really forward to producing some more photo stories down the road! This one was my biggest one yet that I've done. 48 photos in all!

Hope you all enjoy! :)

Just the usual work on modeling for Hrists armor, and hopefully wrapping up loose ends on her outfit. Been heavily side tracked in my free time watching the Dota 2 Internationals this year. Real exciting stuff, for me anyway.

Hrist's Gown Part VII

Working a bit lately on finishing up Hrist's armor bits. few painting issues. I needed to address. I will soon be experimenting a bit on those broken pieces with some new finishing ideas I have in mind.

Some update photos on the gown, well older ones that I promised to post after the doll meet, and a week later getting around to doing that >_>;;;; where does time go? D:

Yeah, these photos are a bit sub average >_> Taken with my phones camera.... it's bad. but sometimes it serves its purpose...

Still working on the two rear drape belts. Only managed to finish one so far X_X And am currently deciding if it's a style I'll use or the other one I had in mind which seems to not be working right now...

Till next time...
